Research is one of core function of a university which complement other core functions namely teaching, consultancy and public service. The research agenda outlines the university's strategic focus areas, guiding researchers to align their work with institutional priorities. The guidelines offer essential protocols to ensure academic rigor, ethical standards, and compliance with best research practices. Intellectual Property Rights Policy

This Policy is meant to encourage and enable technology development, its commercialisation and transfer for the benefit of the public. In the contemporary world, commercialization and licensing of research findings and results to industries and private users is common phenomenon which has attracted a substantial amount of revenue to many universities in the developed and emerging economies.

It is high time that University of Lisala strives to tap the immense potential resource which is available in this area by harnessing the potentials provided by the intellectual property assets embodied in research, publication and consultancy findings. Research Ethics Guidelines

Research ethics are important for all research undertakings. The University undertakes various research activities which – directly or indirectly affect humans, people's properties, and environment, economic and social issues all of which need to be regulated.

These guidelines will help researchers and the research community to be cognizant of their ethical views and attitude, raise their awareness of ethical standards, promote good judgment and enhance their ability to make well research based decisions. Furthermore, the existence of these guidelines will not only promote ethical and scientific intellectual culture among its academic staff and students, but also help to protect rights and interests of human participants.

No.	PLAN	VALIDITY CRITERIA
1	Thesis Title	It should be formulated in precise terms, so that by reading it, one grasps exactly the issue and the objective; It should be observable and demonstrable; It should be limited in space and time, if possible; It should corresponds to your domain (optional), so that by reading it, one understands which domain (optional) it belongs to.
2	Introduction	State the context of your study as precisely as possible.
3	Problematic (Statement of the problem)	It should clearly and distinctly indicates the variables It should show how these variables are related (dependency, variance, causality); It should clarify the state of the question and the need for further research; It should indicates the research done on the subject and shows the need for new research Then, expressively state the originality of your research.
4	Question Research	a) General question It should corresponds exactly with the title of the thesis; The formulation consists of converting the title in question; For example, in the thesis entitled: "Socio-economic conditions for keeping young people in their villages", The question would be: "What are the socio-economic conditions for keeping young people in their villages?" b) Specific questions They should exhaust all aspects of the general question; They should be observable; They should be in a reasonable number, depending on the complexity of the question, perhaps between 3 and 5
5	Research objectives	a) General objective It should corresponds exactly with the title of the thesis; The formulation consists of converting the title into an objective. For example, in the same thesis entitled: "Socio-economic conditions of youth management in their villages", The overall objective would be: "To study the socio-economic conditions for keeping young people in their villages?" b) Specific objectives They should exhaust all aspects of the overall objective; They should be observable and by reading them one can sense the methods that will be used; They should be of a reasonable number, according to the complexity of the question, and that they correspond exactly with the specific questions.
6	Research hypothesis	a) General hypothesis (if possible) It should be a provisional answer to the general question; It should correspond to the general objective It should be formulated in conditional mode. b) Specific hypotheses They are provisional answers that can be verified (theoretically or experimentally) with respect to the specific questions they correspond to; They are formulated in conditional mode.
7	Literature review	Theoretical Literature It clarifies the field of your study, the theories and methods involved, but in relation to the thesis topic; It defines the technical concepts involved in the formulation of your thesis; It makes your thesis increasingly clear, controlled, and theoretically verifiable. Empirical Literature It should provide an overview of the current state of knowledge and understanding on the topic (your thesis), referring to research, writings, and publications on your research subject.
8	Methodology	Site and justification Description of the site in relation to the subject of your thesis and geographical location of your research environment (if possible with maps); The choice of site is justified. Population and justification Your investigation environment is precise and justified This refers to the total population from which you will draw the samples for your research. It is suitable for all your research objectives, questions and hypotheses Data collection methods Examples include observations, tests, documentation, etc. The methods are specified and are accompanied by the identification of the data to be collected. For example, a questionnaire on… sent to…; documentation on…; tests of… Data collection techniques They are instruments used, such as a questionnaire, devices Data analysis and interpretation They are clearly identified and briefly explained; Whether they are a combination of quantitative (if possible) and qualitative methods They are appropriate to the themes of your research Data presentation and analysis techniques They are instruments, like graphs, software… Epistemological constraints (if possible) Some subjects are difficult, due to the non-existence or inadequacy of the theories relating to them, due to their taboo or discreet nature, due to their dangerousness,…; Some data relates to climates, equipment and other environmental conditions; Identify these constraints and explain how you intend to overcome them. These epistemological constraints add value to your work. There should be links between: the title, the research questions, the objectives, the hypotheses, the site, the population, the sample, the research methods and techniques in order to ensure perfect coherence of the thesis.
9	Presentation, analysis and data (results)	Identify your respondents, ensuring that the elements or categories of identification are relevant to your thesis; The dependent and independent variables be highlighted and their relationships explained. If "A" causes or produces "B", the analysis should show by what mechanism A causes B. The presentation and analysis plan conforms to the different objectives of your thesis; Use tables, graphs, maps, etc., if possible… Analyze and interpret your data in light of the ideas from your literature review.
10	Discussion of results	Clarify the relationship between your assumptions and your results. Is the thesis been sufficiently studied? Have the objectives been achieved? You may be able to develop, based on the results, a model or plan or protocol for action or intervention.
11	Project for the exploitation of the thesis	You can develop a model for exploiting the main conclusions of the thesis.
11	Conclusion and recommendation	Conclusion When reading your conclusion, one should grasp the entire thesis: the questions, the objectives, the methods, the processes and the results. The number of pages in the conclusion should be reasonable (neither too many nor too few) Recommendations They should be achievable; they should be based on your results and main conclusions. For example, you could formulate them like this: given that… we recommend…

	Appendices	Your questionnaire You should prepared your questionnaire for the fieldwork. As a reminder, your questionnaire should fully encompass the complexity of your research objectives, questions, and hypotheses. Indicate which parts of the thesis it concerns and the people to whom it is addressed. Formulate them as follows: Questionnaire on … addressed to … Your articles published or accepted for publication Only articles related to your thesis
